Tonight, Friday May 29, Pie Social at Practical Art is to benefit an incredible local organization called Daring Adventures. Daring Adventures’ mission is to help everyone experience wilderness adventure, regardless of disability, mental illness or financial need. The wilderness is the great equalizer! Contributions to Daring Adventures pay for supervised and accessible outdoor adventures, creating new opportunities, unforgettable experiences and confidence.
But you don’t have to limit your support to money: becoming a volunteer is also a great way to get involved with the group! Daring Adventures organization offers a year-round continuum of outdoor recreation activities that include camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, cross country skiing, sled ice hockey, cycling, and rock climbing. All activities are adapted to meet the needs of individuals with significant disabilities.
For example, the River Rampage Expedition is a program that focuses on teens (ages 14 to 20), it involves a week-long white water rafting trip down the San Juan River in Utah. This experience is challenging and takes teamwork. It also exposes these youth to magnificent scenery, wildlife and a world of possibilities. Each teen selected for a River Rampage Expedition earns his/her trip by completing 30 hours of volunteer service in the community.
We invite you to join us in support of Daring Adventures!
A Share of the Pie: Charity Pie Night!
Friday, May 29th, 2015 from 7pm-9pm
Featured charity: Daring Adventures
How does it work again? A $5 donation gets you a slice of a Vonceil’s Pies creation! A $10 donation or $25 purchase at the shop gets you as many in-house tastings as you’d like! The delectables (made by our favorite sister/helper Karen Olson) have previously included Banana Peanut Butter Cream, and Strawberry Jalapeno. Bring your own plate or pick up a handmade one on the spot to keep things eco-conscious!
All donations, and 10% of all sales during the event and all weekend, will be donated to Daring Adventures
