This year, spring in Arizona brings blooming flowers, baseball season, and PRACTICAL ART’S 7th ANNIVERSARY— it is officially time to celebrate! Visit the store from 11:00am – 5:00pm Saturday, April 18, 2015 for your chance to party with us. Come and meet talented artists, view our amazing “Buffalo Girl” art exhibition, sip on refreshing drinks, munch on tasty treats, and make your very own handcrafted items in our first ever TRICRAFTATHON!
That’s right, craft it up from 11:00am – 2:00pm by
- turning recyclable goods into usable creations with Shannon Youso from the Bergamot Institute
- trying your hand at the potter’s wheel with ceramic artist extraordinaire Jillian Schimmel.
- making a vase from a wine bottles with Ray Delmuro from Refresh Glass
We are offering you three chances to make your very own practical art. You want more? Participants in our Tricraftathon will be entered to win practical art gift cards. There are two ways to win: one, by being the fastest crafter in all three events; or, two, by creating the most beautiful and well-made crafts in each category. So grab your family and friends and celebrate at Practical Art on April 18th!
Why should you celebrate with us on April 18th? Because we want to THANK YOU! It is because of you that we are here every day of the week. We appreciate your support for our small shop with a big dream—a dream that began with and continues to be inspired by our late founder, Jane Reddin. Jane believed in the power of art, the power of community, and the power of the local movement. For 7 YEARS you have helped us build and live Jane’s dream!
Through your support Practical Art has grown from 8 local artists and a smattering of beautiful, functional art to over 125 Arizona artists with handmade work made from glass, metal, wood, fiber, clay, paper, and much more! Because of YOU, many of these artists have been able to grow beyond part-time garage workspaces and move into full time art studios. You have helped make the arts community in Phoenix and around Arizona a stronger place.
In the last year, you have also helped Practical Art raise more than $10,000 for non-profit organizations around the community!!! Through our monthly charity pie night, we have helped support the Phoenix Zoo, the Phoenix Art Museum, Local First Arizona, the Animal Defense League of Arizona, the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project, St Vincent DePaul’s Urban Farm, Free Arts of Arizona, Rising Youth Theater and many more. Your donations have fed individuals suffering from hunger. Your generous contributions have helped insure that detained immigrants receive basic civil rights. Your dollars have helped teach children how to express themselves through art. By supporting Practical Art, you have had a huge impact on the Arizona community!
YOU are the reason we are celebrating Saturday, April 18th. Come and celebrate all that we have been able to accomplish together. Come and celebrate the fact that our work is not done! Let’s toast to another 7 years when, building from a stronger foundation, we will make an even bigger impact!!
