If the internet tells us anything at all, it’s that we love cute animals. And by the sheer number of cat videos on the web, it probably also indicates that we love kittens above all–but maybe that’s because we’ve never actually met a baby armadillo in real life…
AND, FOLKS, THAT’S ALL ABOUT TO CHANGE.
Join us this Friday for Practical Art’s Charity Pie Night and interface with EIGHT lil’ creatures that’ll be introduced to us over the course of the evening by handlers from the Phoenix Zoo— this month’s pie night beneficiary.
According to 2014 stats, there are around 250 accredited zoos & aquariums in the U.S. What particularly excites us about our zoo here in Phoenix is that they aren’t just ‘Phoenix Zoo’, but rather, ‘Phoenix Zoo; Arizona Center for Nature Conservation’. These folks are animal lovers with a mission. The Zoo participates in both local and global conservation: at the local level, they work to maintain healthy & self-sustaining managed-setting populations of multiple endangered species natively found throughout Arizona. On a global scale, they have a mission to provide experiences that inspire people and spark our motivation to care for the natural world. They also support a number of other programs through Conservation and Science grants each year.
Another reason we love the Phoenix Zoo? They collect your trash just like we do! You can bring your scrap metals, cans, and empty wine bottles to Practical Art as part of our Recycling for Jane drive, AND you can drop off both old ink cartridges and cell phones to the Phoenix Zoo! What else you got? Maybe we can find homes for that trash too!
So, besides donating for the opportunity to eat pie, visit with these amazing little creatures, meet ’em and learn about ’em, you could consider your donation as your subscription to ZooTube… because, oh, my, gosh, there is such a thing. Check it out for some virtual cuddles n’ cuteness, or come by Friday Night for the real thing!
A Share of the Pie: Charity Pie Night!
Friday, March 27th, 2015 from 7pm-9pm
Featured charity: Phoenix Zoo | Arizona Center for Nature Conservation
How does it work again? A $5 donation gets you a slice of a Vonceil’s Pies creation! A $10 donation or $25 purchase at the shop gets you as many in-house tastings as you’d like! The delectables (made by our favorite sister/helper Karen Olson) have previously included Banana Peanut Butter Cream, and Strawberry Jalapeno. Bring your own plate or pick up a handmade one on the spot to keep things eco-conscious! All donations, and 10% of all sales during the event and all weekend, will be donated to the Phoenix Zoo.
