Photo Essay: A studio visit with Practical Art artisan Cathi Borthwick of Flagstaff, Arizona

borthwick01

Meet Practical Art artisan Cathi Borthwick.  From her home studio in Flagstaff, AZ, she forges one of our best selling holiday gift items…. The Moose Hook. (If you haven’t seen it, just wait!)  In honor of its popularity, we’ve decided to give you a sneak peek into how one of these antlered, steel critters is made!

And, on a special note, 2012 marks Cathi’s 30th year in manipulating steel at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit.  Happy Anniversary, Cathi!

**And don’t forget! Tonight: come see us for live music with Baja Snakes from 7pm-9pm and view the new wall show, “Home” by Troy Moody! Then, venture around the corner to catch the Crafeteria event at Frances! (S’mores with Short Leash Hot Dogs!) We also have a free glass-working demo with local artisan John Ryszka II on Saturday (tomorrow!) at the shop from 11am-4pm! All the upcoming event details at www.practical-art.com!**
